The sustainability of the healthcare system is increasingly moving into the spotlight of social debate. We want to use our products and services to make a sustainable contribution to our customers’ health.
For us, sustainability in a healthcare context essentially means an efficient, closely coordinated, high-quality and affordable healthcare system. This includes integrated care models, prevention, digitalisation and new remuneration systems. This is something we are committed to – together with all Helsana employees. But sustainability is not something that we only want to address through our insurance products and services. We also want to make an impact in a broader sense and live up to our responsibility towards society, our employees, the economic climate and the environment.
Our sustainability reporting provides transparency not only regarding our commitment but also regarding the progress we have made in the various aspects of sustainability. We look forward to taking you with us as we progress on our journey towards a more sustainable future.
We have grouped the key sustainability topics derived from our business model into the following five categories:
Diversity and equal opportunities are a top priority for us, and we put people and their health at the centre of everything we do.
As a leading health insurer, we are committed not only to an efficient and high-quality healthcare system, but also to an affordable one.
In keeping with our promise to be “Committed to life”, we help others to help and lend a hand our-selves.
We are committed to the efficient and sustainable use of energy, to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to the careful use of natural resources.
In addition to general, legal and ethical principles, sustainability is one of Helsana’s corporate governance principles.
As well as focussing on the issues relevant to our stakeholder groups and to Helsana’s long-term business success, we also want to make a contribution to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
03 Good Health and Well-being
04 Quality Education
05 Gender Equality
08 Decent Work and Economic Growth
09 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
12 Responsible Consumption and Production
13 Climate Action
17 Partnerships for the Goals
Helsana takes recognised standards and initiatives as a basis when it comes to developing and refining its sustainability activities and is committed to a more sustainable future through its membership of various associations.
Helsana also joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in July 2024, and in so doing has committed to a vision of a more inclusive and sustainable way of doing business for the benefit of everyone.
We're here to help.
