Helsana and the University Hospital of Basel have agreed on the tariffs for the semi-private and private wards. The new billing model clearly shows the added value offered by supplementary insurance and includes fair prices. The costs for these stays at the University Hospital of Basel will thus once again be fully covered with corresponding insurance coverage.

The negotiations between Helsana and the University Hospital of Basel about the tariffs for the semi-private and private wards failed in spring 2018. For this reason, Helsana set the maximum tariffs for the University Hospital of Basel with effect from 11 June 2018.
It has since been possible to reach an agreement. The new billing model now clearly shows the added value offered by supplementary insurance for Helsana and its customers and includes fair prices. Our persistence during the negotiations has thus paid off.
Since yesterday, 26 November, the costs incurred by our customers for a semi-private or private inpatient hospital stay at the University Hospital of Basel have once again been paid in accordance with their insurance coverage where appropriate coverage is in place.
