The Foundation Boards of Helsana’s two shareholders, Fondation Sana and Artisana Foundation, have already approved the election of Daniel Liedtke for the attention of the General Meeting. The General Meeting of Helsana Ltd will formally decide on Daniel Liedtke's election in May 2025. The current Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thomas D. Szucs, announced a few months ago that he had taken the decision not to stand for re-election.

The designated new Chairman of the Helsana Group, Daniel Liedtke, is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Hirslanden Group. It is planned that he will give up his roles at Hirslanden in September 2025 and take over as Chairman of the Helsana Group from 1 October 2025. To ensure a seamless transition at the helm of Helsana’s Board of Directors, its members have asked that the current Chairman Thomas D. Szucs extend his mandate by four months until 30 September 2025. The General Meeting will formally decide on this temporary extension in May 2025.

Chairman Thomas D. Szucs informed the General Meeting of Helsana last May that he would no longer be standing for re-election after a successful period of office spanning 15 years. He intends to hand over the office of Chairman to his successor one year before reaching the statutory term limit. Prior to his departure in September 2025, Thomas D. Szucs will continue to offer close strategic support in connection with the implementation of the 2025+ strategy and work to ensure an optimal transition as he hands over the office of Chairman.

Working together for the benefit of insured persons and patients

Thomas D. Szucs believes an optimal solution has been found in the shape of Daniel Liedtke as his successor as Chairman of Helsana: “The Board of Directors and the shareholders are fully behind the nomination of Daniel Liedtke. The Helsana Group will be able to draw on the knowledge of an experienced and distinguished expert on the Swiss healthcare system as its new Chairman. Working together with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, he will endeavour to implement broadly supported strategic solutions for the current major challenges faced by the healthcare sector.”

Daniel Liedtke on his role at the largest health insurer: “I am looking forward to working together with my colleagues on the Board of Directors. Together with the Executive Committee, we will shape and further develop the future path taken by Helsana. I have great respect for Helsana’s achievements to date and view this task as a challenge.”

The designated new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Helsana, Daniel Liedtke (54), has been the CEO of the Hirslanden Group and a member of the Executive Committee of the international Mediclinic Group since January 2019. He is a member of numerous boards and committees, is actively involved in teaching and research and is passionate about high-quality, cost-effective medicine, care and therapy as well as innovative physical and digital care models at national and international level. He holds an AMP from Harvard Business School in Boston and a PhD in Business Administration from Charles Sturt University in Australia.
