Reporting a death

When someone dies, it is a difficult time for their family, who will need a great deal of strength to cope with things.

How to proceed

At an already difficult time, there is a lot to organise. That’s why we make it as easy as possible for you to report a death. You can notify us of a death in just a few steps. This will help us to complete the necessary formalities. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

What is required?

  • The deceased person’s insurance number
    You will find their insurance number on their insurance card or insurance policy.
  • Proof of death
    A copy of the death certificate (this may be called something else, depending on the canton or local authority) serves as proof of death.
  • Notification of death
    Please notify us of a death by completing the form on this page and returning it to us by post or e-mail (form@helsana.ch).

Yes, premiums are only payable until the date of death. Any excess premiums will be refunded.
