Legal disputes can soon become protracted and expensive. You need an advance on costs if they go to court and you need to be represented by a lawyer.
Legal expenses insurance covers legal advice, representation by a lawyer if the case comes to court, and most of the legal expenses and court costs.
Thanks to your TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA supplementary insurance, you already benefit from comprehensive legal protection in health matters or while abroad. It provides you with assistance if you get involved in, for example, legal disputes with doctors, hospitals or social and private liability insurers.
Legal disputes are also common in civil matters (e.g. disputes with your landlord or employer), in traffic (e.g. after a car accident) or in Internet-related matters (e.g. credit card misuse). You can supplement your existing legal cover for a very competitive premium with civil, motorists’ and Internet legal expenses insurance with Helsana Advocare EXTRA. That makes your legal expenses insurance fully comprehensive.
When combined with TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA supplementary insurance, you will get Helsana Advocare EXTRA for a reduced price because the civil legal expenses cover is already included in the supplementary insurance.
Report it immediately by calling the emergency number on your insurance card or in writing. After contacting you, Helsana Rechtsschutz AG (HERAG) will take the steps necessary. Before engaging the services of a lawyer, you must obtain HERAG’s consent and approval of the costs. If you fail to comply with these provisions, HERAG is entitled to reduce its benefits.
Helsana Advocare legal expenses insurance can be taken out in two variants – PLUS and EXTRA:
- Helsana Advocare PLUS is your first choice if you are looking for comprehensive and affordable legal expenses cover for disputes involving civil and motoring law, and attach major importance to legal advice.0
- You should opt for Helsana Advocare EXTRA if you are looking for global legal expenses cover and legal advice that includes Internet law in addition to civil and motoring law.
When compared with Helsana Advocare PLUS, Helsana Advocare EXTRA generally offers more generous benefits, global cover in all areas of law and advanced cover for legal expenses associated with the use of the Internet.
Benefits are paid by Helsana Rechtschutz AG. Helsana Rechtschutz AG is a subsidiary of Coop Rechtschutz AG and Helsana Supplementary Insurances Ltd.
You can take out this insurance if you meet the following conditions:
- You have your official place of residence in Switzerland.
- You already have TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA supplementary insurance or are applying for one of them and for Helsana Advocare EXTRA at the same time.
The minimum term is one year. The contract is automatically renewed each year on the expiry date for a further year.
You can terminate the insurance on 31 December of each year and switch to another health insurance company in Switzerland. Three months’ notice of termination must be given. Notice of termination must reach us by no later than the last working day in September. If the insurance premium changes, a one-month notice period applies. In this case, notice of termination must reach us by no later than the last working day in November.
Because this policy is only available in conjunction with supplementary insurance TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA, it is automatically cancelled when you cancel this supplementary insurance.
A waiting period is the time (from the start of the contract) during which you do not yet have a claim to insurance benefits. The length of the waiting period can vary depending on the insurance benefit.
In this policy the waiting period differs depending on the legal issue in question. In some cases there is no waiting period, while in others it is three months. In the latter case, you will not have legal expenses cover until the end of these three months at the earliest.
The discounts available to you on the Helsana Advocare EXTRA insurance premiums are:
- 100% discount for children up to the age of 18 with TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA: Helsana Advocare EXTRA is completely free for children until they reach the age of 19.
- 75% discount for children up to the age of 18 without TOP, COMPLETA or OMNIA
- 50% discount for young adults aged 19 to 25.
- 25% partner discount for two or more adults aged 26 or over from the same household, insured under the same contract as the person paying the premiums.
